Industrial CT provides a clear insight into the internal structures of rock cores, enabling the extraction and three-dimensional representation of pores, cavities, and fracture porosities in carbonate rocks. This serves as a robust technical foundation for characterizing heterogeneous reservoirs like ultra-deep fractured tight sandstones and fractured-cavity carbonate rocks, subsequently guiding petroleum exploration and development activities.
Industrial CT can be used to inspect rock samples and explore traces of life.
The pore-throat network model produced by industrial CT scanning allows for the calculation of the average length and diameter of the throats. Concurrently, based on connectivity simulations, the permeability of the rock core can be determined.
Industrial CT technology enables three-dimensional visualization of fracture structures within rock cores, providing a comprehensive understanding of their morphology and distribution. Analyzing these fracture structures in rock cores aids in a better comprehension of the propagation patterns and mechanisms of fractures.
